if you want to spend the $ for adjustable mag, go for it....or, spend less then $5 and mag a handful w/ lee valley mags...

stationary magging is insanely easy to do too..

    Jesse,

Any way you can do a quick write up? I have an SX and would love to know how to do it.

    Thanks!

extraordinarily easy, first you have to find out how heavily you want your reel slowed down, for stationary mag i tend to slightly overmag, just for throwing into head winds, as my avet sx's were pure distance drum reels.

Then you can choose sizes from there, bigger mag=slower reel, smaller=faster etc.

Then comes installing, also very simple and there are 2 basic ways of doing this, i choose the later.

one way being glueing a very thin metal shim to the left sideplate, and havin the magnets placed on that, which makes it easier for testing and changing your magnets out til you get it the way you want.

personally, i use a small dot of super glue to hold my magnet(s) to the side plate. place the magnets closer to the far edges of the sideplate for a slower freespool, and closer to the center for faster reel.

maybe if i do vinnys reel while im up in NJ, he or i can take some pics, its really easy, i can literally do it in 2-3 minutes on the tailgate of my truck lol

I get the idea but I am anxious to see a photo. as they say a picture is worth a thousand words.
What mag did you find works best with the SX?

yep those are the ones, wont rust on ya.

you really have to decide for yourself, as to how slow or fast you want your freespool, try a 1/4 + 3/8 . now that sounds like alot of pull, but magnets lose their force exponentially the further they are away from an object that they want to pull on.
