Sadly, Tristram Eley has passed away.
Now some of you may know this already but, I just heard about this a few moments ago from his wife via a surprise E-mail. Its very sad, Tris loved life and loved fishing even more then that. Tris was a first class person, and a gentlemen of our sport. Tris was an active proponent for sport fishing and an accomplished author of numerous fishing articles and stories. His writing could be found in Marlin and Blue Water to just to name a few. Tristram Moved to Cairns Australia from London to help live his dream of being surrounded by fishing. Tris loved fishing on all levels. Tristram may not be the most well know in our business, but fishing lost a wonderful part of it. I wish I Had his words to give him the justice he deserves. I also wish I had more photos to post. If you do please post them. I bet Tris is up there, on the bite right now. Rest In Peace my friend.

another tragic loss... prayers will be sent to his family..
a fishermans prayer for him...
I pray that I may live to fish.......
Until my dying day.
And when it comes to my last cast,
I then most humbly pray:
When in the Lord's great landing net
And peacefully asleep
That in His mercy I be judged
Big enough to keep.
I meet Tristram when he first showed up in Cairns 3 years ago. He was walking the dock, introducing himself and looking for a ride. Many young guys in this industry don't have the guts to show up somewhere new and walk the dock, Tristram did it in his early 40's. I believe he was an English teacher for many years, he also worked as a cook/crew on yachts before crewing on gameboats. It's never to late to chase your dreams, and unfortunately, sometimes the end is closer than we expect, so go for it. Tristram's passion for this lifestyle will be missed.
