Left OB pass 0530 for a 12hr trip. Made a few stops to break up the 60+ mile run and got us a mess of snapper with several blacks, triggers, and mingos mixed in. Got to the deep water and fired down some BIG baits when I hear one of the clients grunt and lean over the gunwale almost like he was gonna get sick but the bend in his rod told a different story. After a pretty good tussel first fish up is 20+lb snapper. Then the SCAMPS started hitting the deck. The bottom fishing was done and the water looked really good so, we put out a spread for a short relaxing cruise to get the boat straightened up and ready to run. The long wahoo rod started screaming and I MEAN SCREAMING. Backed off the throttles and he's still screaming the clients are just staring and the rod with jaws dropped. Getting dangerously close to being "dumped" in short order the deck hand tries to ease the drag down and the fish never slowed down breaking the 80lb dacron like dental floss. Now that is impressive to see! There are some bad dudes swimin around out there.
