Smile ANother Day in Paradise

Had yesterdays make up trip today. I was absolutely floored when I got to the dock and saw the wind from the north east... This is late May and that just doesn't happen. To compound things the starboard engine didn't want to turn over. A few minutes of trouble shooting and cleaning battery contacts had that problem solved.
Heading out the inlet the water was pretty but a pretty substatial chop was up top. I slid right into my plan for deep but hit a briick wall of weeds at 280'. Impossible to get through and as far as the eye could see we plodded along side of it... I was expecting the dinky dolphin of the weekend to come pouring out of it but nope. It was pretty quiet. Then a big pair came roaring out from under a thick piece of weed and unloaded on my left side. The bull ate the flat and the cow the rigger. Big fish both they ran back into the weed so we had about ten pounds of saragassum handicap on each. She reached the boat first and I dropped her in the box. The bull though was one of those way stubborn ones and was about 30 minutes on a tld 25 before I stroked it,. Nice 40 class fish!
We played along that line for another hour or so with only one five pound cow added to the list.
These guy had enough meat and wanted some action. I was just short of the edge when we had a pair of sails pop up. Got steel in both but one said bye bye in short order. The other one stayed stuck and was released healthy. I put the spread back out and as I was setting the rigger the bait was pulled out of my hand while puttin it in the clip. looked back and another sail. This one had smoked me though... We picked three tripples of big neeters chop was building and that was enough for my guys...
Three fish cut up. Happy people. Boat looking pretty sharp. Back home by 12:30 ... My kind of day...
Gonna retie all my knots and prepare the good tackle for Sea Biscuits arrival. SFC people deserve the red carpet treatment...

That sail was a chunky 50-55lb fish today. The one I had on the day with the blue was pushin 70. Saturdays was about 40. Not real common to have them here this time of year but sometimes...
Checking my log that was billfish #100 this year if you include the swordies in the count...
