    ANOTHER ARCHER SUPERBAR WAHOO....

Made it offshore last weds aboard the DIRTY MARTINI after seeing an upwhelling that was located just offshore the McMarlyn Ledge. Had a couple of friends (Frenchi and Kirk)in town and decided to make it a day while they were here.

Soon as we put lines out I immediately had a cutoff, so I switched over to wire. Not much for a couple hours until Birddog Kirk saw some action on the surface. 1st pull through the Mahi started picking at our baits, they were finicky and didnt seem to want to eat. After some pulls through we boated one.

Soon we found the mother load with a floating plyboard. Musta been a hundred P-Nuts under it. Treid everything, couldnt get them to eat, Martini eventually jumped overboard and shot two with his speargun. That was a first for me, but there were so many it was easy. Shortly we went back to trollin when we had a 4 way knockdown, two pulled off quickly but ended up decking two Blackfins. One about 7 and one around 15lbs.

Went back on the troll and shortly thereafter I had a nice Hoo sky on the Ruckus Raiser on the Flat. The fish turned on the short rigger and cutoff one of the few mono lines I had out. Back to the troll, it was gettin late but we wanted a Hoo for the boys. It wouldnt take long as the next bite came on the ARCHER JT SPECIAL RR. This one hit paydirt when the RODDY HAYES PIPER chasebait found the bone and the fight was on. Ended up puttin the steel to a small wahoo.

Ended the day with a half dozen Mahi, two Blackfins and a small hoo. A great day for late summer.

Good to see you were able to get out, AND get some fish for the boys Ace! Thanks for the report and photos.

The Legend Lure in question is actually one of Roddys newer creations, the supersonic Piper. Makes a great high speed lure and chasebait for bars.

    Keep it up!

Yeah I knew it was Roddys but wasnt sure of the name. Glad you straightened that out. I know it catches fish! Since its been in my spread, a couple sails, a wahoo and several mahi have fell victim to her. Those Ruckus Raisers call em up and that Chasebait puts um in the boat.

    Archer Ruckus Raisers

    Ace,

I always wondered how well the different small Archer bars worked. Guess you answered that question. Do you use them a lot and what (species) have you had best success on?

I generally fish the same area as you so certainly I'm curious.

Hal.....I have pretty much caught about everything on them to date. I pull two Ruckus Raisers/chasebaits, both on the flat lines right off the rod tip. Second and fourth waves back. I try to match the size of the squids to what Im seeing. There is no doubt these bars raise and catch fish. I have caught sailfish, white marlin, wahoo, mahi, amberjack, Yft, Blkfn Tuna and albacore with this setup. I usually pull a Archer Superbar/chasebait or a single ballyhoo on the short rigger just behind and outside of the RR. Sometimes I will see fish raise to the RR and turn on the short rigger. I normally put a swimmin plug just under the RR's in the prop wash. It gets smashed alot!!

You aint fishin unless you got one of FREDS BARS in your spread.

Hit me up sometime when youre in the area. Ill show them to you.

Unfortunately, I cant take pictures of every fish I catch. Id have trouble storin them all. But heres a sail if youve never seen one. They are pretty fish!

Oh yeah, Paul of JPR Rods was aboard for another sail we hooked up on the JT Special. Sorry...no pictures of him either. Wish we had got some though, it was funny seein those green squids on that sails head. Kinda like the christmas lights in a Freak Nasties Antlers.
