Game On Rods ~ Game Over Gaffs

I am stunned at the workmanship by Kevin Knox at Angler's Envy.

Kevin and I started working on these two lines about 3 months ago, the effort paid off.

Angler's Envy and CanyonGear entered into a partnership to produce the highest quality Custom Rods and Custom Gaffs with his craftsmanship and built to our specifications and component requirements. My bud, Freddy Malcarne from Winthrop Tool - Excel Guides reviewed both rods for guide sizing on the CalStar blanks and assisted technically in the build. The rods were sent to him for final review and blessing.

Congratulate Kevin, when you get a minute on a great job!

Here are some pics of a truely collaborative custom build effort as the ideas came together to create these Blue Water Rods and Gaffs (excuse the pics, I suck at photo's):

If I could say a few things, most of what we do would not be possible without alot of people behind the scenes.

For instance, the gaff labels, were custom designed with the help of Demented Graphics in Jupiter, Fl.

The great people at Seeker and CalStar Rods, who worked with us on the Gaff handles and the rod blank selection based on the action I wanted for the rods and the size and length of the Reaper Gaff.

The hook suppliers, from the US and abroad who believed in the "customization" of the product and the part that their product would play in the end result.

Aqua Blue Maui in Hawaii, for providing the best abalone we could source that was consistent and virtually flawless.

Winthrop Tool..for giving time, access, and technical advice as the rods were built on the CalStar blanks, there are special tweeks the guides need depending on the blanks being used. Freddy at Winthrop, was very helpful to Kevin.

The countless distributors and supplies for the products used in the builds, AFTCO, the young man in California who fashioned the turks heads..

it goes on..alot of thought, co-operation by alot of people made this happen, I thank them.

Some may not like all the Abalone, understandable, on the site you can choose to do without it if you wish, also, you can choose EVA dense high quality foam grips in place of the cord/turks grips..along with hook sizes, handle lengths..on and on..the choices on the site are endless to build what you want to suit your needs.

The Reaper, in the size of the gaff in the pics, is a Big Fish gaff, it's heavy duty and would qualify as a GBT or Marlin gaff easily. It can be custom made in smaller sizes with smaller hooks with or without barbs..etc.

In a month we should have the Flyer should done...and up on the site, keep you posted. The handle sourcing is moving along, im just not happy with the choices available so far, the search continues.
