    For whatever it's worth, no prob viewing the vid from here. Pretty graphic, but close to a good way to get a human unhooked.

    I'm with The Buff, or pretty much so. I've been taking (too many) hooks out of others and myself for a long time using something very similar. I believe Mike and I are talking pretty much the same way, except that I was taught to press down on the eye of the hook as I yanked. THat's what it looks like the guy in the video is doing. This forces the barb down so that it exits out of the same path it went in and doesn't pick up any other goodies, like nerves, tendons, etc.

    One last hint. Dacron, if you have any around, is really good for this application because of the lack of stretch when you yank. I suppose you could use any braid, but be careful not to get cut by it by wrapping it around something to protect your hand.

    Man, it sure is a good thing that fellow wasn't trying to illustrate how to patch up a cut throat, eh?
