Andy Adkins wins the Kenya Fly540 with Angler's Envy
I am very happy to tell you that the following was waiting for me this morning in my mail. Andy bought a set of 50 class standups last year. He bought them specifically for this tournament. It sounds like a wise investment to me!!!!

“Snark” Wins Big
FLY540 AND EAST AFRICA SAFARI EXPRESS WATAMU FISHING
Coastweek-- Malindi based boat “Snark” fished by Adrian Paul (skipper), Andy Atkins and Adi Mohamed headed a fleet of 21 boats to win the Fly540 and East Africa Safari Express Watamu Fishing competition by the hand-some margin of 80 points.
At the end of the first day “Instedda” skippered by Ali Al Harazi and fished by Imran Moosa was in the lead but “Snark” had an impressive second day catch which included a kingfish, and a sailfish and a striped marlin which were tagged and released.
The victory by “Snark” was warmly celebrated by team member Andy Atkins who visited Kenya from Britain to participate in the Watamu Fishing Festival.
Former rally driver and boat owner Rob Hellier was highly favoured for first place in “Unreel”.
He maintained his strong reputation as a skipper by taking the runner-up prize with anglers Russel Brumby, Richard Moller and Royjan Taylor.
In contrast to the 80 point margin separating the winner and second placed boat, third placed “Instedda” was only one point behind the runner-up.
Howard Lawrence Brown brought his boat “Kipapa” from his mooring in Mtwapa for the competition. He hosted Steve Wright, Paul Hutton and Mike Evans, a trio of anglers from the UK.
They were happy to take home the fourth prize with a catch that included a sailfish and a striped marlin. Don Smith, the Chief Executive Officer of Fly540, fished with his family on Simba for fun but not as a competition contender.
Speaking at the prize-giving ceremony he expressed his pleasure that the competition has grown in status during the four year sponsorship by the airline and confirmed support for the 2012 event.
He complimented the competitors for their sporting spirit and thanked the fishing fraternity for travelling by Fly540.
