exhaust leak:if the exhaust leaked, the boat would be taking on water with the engines running or not-the exhaust is at the water line...
perhaps what you're saying is the cooling water outlet hose ?? yes ?? that would be a factor,if one of the water hoses broke, after the sea water pump, water would be pumped into the boat, but not out, also, the engine would be overheating, and the noise of the engine would change alot-due to no water in the exhaust...
this is why i preach a "high bilge water alarm"...
shouldn't really be "monday morning quarterbacking" this...i certainly do not know the cause, anything is speculation...this kinda reminds me of the "dream catcher",the stories flew on that one,i read things from, hitting another boat to the repair paul mann did a few years prior to the sinking failed-all the typical internet bullshit, thrown about by the typical internet know it all assholes...let's not let this boat go that same route, shall we...
This is the first I have seen those pictures, and just as it does anyone who runs offshore, it just sent a chill up my spine. I have seen on 2 different occasions how quickly disaster can strike out there. Again, my hat is off to everyone who assisted out there and the USCG.
Thank the Lord that all went home to their families.

I agree with jawz that this should not be left to speculation-
I may not have been clear in my terminology, what I meant was something on the raw water cooling discharge side of the engine- but again this is speculation- and should be dropped.
