    What happened?

I expect the boat is out of the water by now. What was the cause of loss of watertight integrity?

Hose clamp failure? Rudder fell out? Hopefully we will learn the cause.

I was told that the boat was taken up to Ocean Yachts yard. after that it's anyone's guess. There is a lot to be learned from this occurrence so I hope the information is released. I was out there that day, and I can say it was rather sporty.

This is complete heresay but I heard the prop may have hit something and come apart puncturing the hull. Once again I dont know this to be fact so if anyone has confirmation either way please share.

Props don't have to hit something to come apart. Electrolysis will do that. If you have ever thrown a blade, its quite violent making the boat feel like its coming apart. The combination of imbalanced torque caused by a missing blade and the use of the strut as a lever can in my opinion rip a bottom open on some boats.

Keep in mind I am in no way saying I have any knowledge about this particular boat. I was simply responding to your post.

FWIW, there is no info on the docks here in OC. I suspect anything out there is hearsay or speculation.

I guess anything is possible. One thing i know is that the boat stayed afloat after they floated it- without the engines running. The engines stayed running until the boat sank, so maybe it was an exhaust issue?

Maybe we will find out, maybe we won't- it basically boils down to the insurance company, their inspector and the salvors.

No one else should really be involved. I know when I am involved in any sort of survey it is a breach of ethics to discuss specifics with anyone other than my client, so we probably won't hear anything exact.

Makes sense. So IF something in the exhaust failed the motors would basically just keep pumping water into the boat wouldnt it?
