Advice for fishing Andros
At last I am now in the planning stage (but definitely going) for a Bahamas trip on my boat this July. We are going to spend about a week in Andros, near Fresh Creek. Does anyone have any advice regarding the area in general? We will dive, bottom fish, go for bonefish in the flats, and of course troll in the tongue of the ocean. We will carry a wide range of gear from light spinning to Avet 50's. Any recommendations for guides, tackle, strategy for offshore, lures, bait, etc.? The boat is rigged for fishing and I would like to hire a mate/guide for the offshore stuff and do a charter inshore for bonefish. I am also curious if anyone has made the run from the middle/upper keys (lower matecumbe) to Andros and any tips they may have. Thanks for anything you can tell me.

Fish the AUTEC buoys for YFT, catch jacks in the shallows for bait first, live is good, but dead works too. Chum them up, no leaders. If the Fresh creek buoy is dead go to the north buoy it is more consistent. Dont bother trolling for them. They hang deep, 2-400ft so you need to get the baits down there. Keep at it, maybe for hours on end before you get a hit, but it's worth it -

Troll for marlin on the edge or on the way to the buoys, may get some mahi too, wahoo rare that time of year.
Bring deep drop gear but beware the catch limits, you can exceed them very quickly if you find the yellow eyes and mistys.
I dont know anything about flats fishing but you are in the right place for it, ask the locals when you arrive about a bonefish guide.
