Ace Fishing Lures aboard Ocean Alley takes 2nd Place

Just got from the Bahamas Wahoo Challenge leg 2 in Port Lucaya...Fishing was rather slow, water temp was cold and weather was bad...coming out of the SE at 30 kts....We prefished over 100 miles in a day with only one 20 lb snake...We knew were not to fish...Day 1 we headed in the other direction and caught one at 50lbs and the other went 56lbs...Day 2 was the big egg goose plus we had some minor engine issues...The two fish on day one were enough for 2nd overall and we did take the big fish honors...Also, had to take a flight home cause seas were fierce to insanity on Sun. am.

All fishing was done on the high speed troll with trolling sinkers, cable shock leaders and my WahooKing lures...trolled up to 19 kts...Both fish came off my red/blk WahooKing lure with glow heads...Some strange highlights for the trip were a 10 lb horse eye jack/black jack that we caught on the shotgun at 18 kts...Also, did see two fish at the docks with a small circular chunk taken out of the meat...Cookie cutter sharks were the culprit.

When I get the pics in a day or two, I will post em up

    Nice going

Nice job Anthony. You always seem to end up in 1st or 2nd, and that consistency is incredible and speaks volumes about your goodies. Speaking of that, I just picked up a boat and need to get with you to get a couple more of your lures.

Congrats, Antknee! Sounds like almost impossible conditions for any kind of trolling, especially the high speed stuff.

That jack doesn't surprise me. We caught a wide diversity of species besides the 'hoos down in Cabo, including too many crevalles, all sizes of tunas, from cows to 5# midgets, big azzed dorados, marlins, and more. The only fish that weren't able to catch the fast stuff were the doreetos (little dorados).

From learning about the speed thing I started to troll a lot faster than just about anyone else I knew or saw down there and zeroed in on lures and built ones that could handle those higher speeds. Not as high as pure high speeding, or course, but a lot faster than "normal". And it really paid off..."cover more water, catch more fish" was the difference between an average day and a great one many times over.

    Again, waytago, Antknee!

And if you come north for a 'hoo tournament or two, at least one old codger will be watching with great interest...and trying to get into a certain team's Calcutta!

Anthony....the tourney goes from April 17th-25th, with one day of fishing, Captains Choice of day. BIG FISH Format.

We do multiple days to allow for smaller boats to have an opportunity to pick their day. The offshore run to the ledges are about 60 miles. Boats must declare their day the morning they are fishing to be able to weigh a fish.

I pay the top three heaviest wahoo in the main and cash for the tuna and mahi top spots. We also have a largest wahoo calcutta that teams get an opportunity to buy in to that adds to the total purse.

Last years winner...TEAM HOOYAH on board a YELLOWFIN took home $15,500 with an 88lber.
Heres a picture of them KNOTHEADS!
    MOTLEY LOOKIN BUNCH!!
