    Acapulco Sailfish w/pics

Last week my buddies and I went down to Acapulco, Mexico to do a little partying. I know I couldn’t last the whole week without doing a little fishing so we went out with Blue Water Sportfishing. The six of us left early Tuesday morning on a custom 46’. We got the lines in the water and within two minutes we hooked up on two bonito and they were in the cooler for marlin bait. We then hooked up on a three foot sand shark before we headed out to the blue water. After trolling for a few hours we finally spotted some activity. Dolphins and Killer whales were perusing the surface when we spotted a sail.

After a quick circle one of the poles went off and before we could grab it the sail was out of the water and the hook out of his mouth. About forty five minutes later the mate whistles from the tuna tower and is down on the deck in 0.5 seconds. A reel starts screaming and my buddy takes the rod. After a few jumps the sail was boatside and we pulled him in.

We all had so much fun that it was decided we would go out again later on in the week. Well it turned out that everyone would rather go out boozing all night and bailed on me. I knew I had to get a sail before I left and since I already threw down a deposit, I decided to go by myself. As the motto goes, “beyond addicted, just plain sick”. I went with a captain and a mate who spoke little English but I didn’t care because it was sunny and I was fishing.

Within twenty minutes I boated two bonito for bait once again. This time the mate rigged it up live so it swam in the spread instead of flopping on top of the water. Three hours went by and no action whatsoever. The only thing I saw was some flying fish which was actually pretty cool. Nobody on the radio caught anything. The only action happened early in the morning on the other boat that had lost a marlin. It was almost noon and I had only a few hours left so I asked if we could head back and catch some more bonito because I was itching to reel in some more fish.

At about 12:45 I headed down from the flybridge to eat some lunch. I took two bites and then glanced back at the spread and saw two fins behind one of the baits. I jumped up and screamed to the mate. A pole on the starboard side popped off the outrigger and the mate opened the bail. After a few seconds he closed it and the pole bowed out. I grabbed a seat in the chair and the fight was on. He jumped a total of four times and I thought I lost him when he tailed towards the boat. The fight lasted twenty minutes and we finally boated the fish. Since I bought two permits I was able to keep the sail and we brought it back for some pictures. The whole rest of the trip we trolled back in as I sat in the fighting chair staring contently at the spread knowing the whole trip was worthwhile.

BOX I DIDNT FORGET YOU BRO. YOU TOLD ME TO POST MY REPORT A FEW MONTHS AGO WHEN I ASKED IF ANYONE KNEW WHERE TO GO. YOU ALSO TOLD ME TO INCLUDE THE PARTYIN PICS SO I HOPE I MADE YOU PROUD!!! I DONT WANT TO POST ANYMORE BECAUSE I'D BE INCRIMINATING MYSELF.

Without corrective lenses, things are never twice the same anyway.
And all it really needed was the proper point of view. JT
