Lost my first Blue marlin today.Got out around 8:30 and trolled all day with nothing, targeting YFT. About 2:15pm we hooked up a small Mako trolling and released it. Around 3:30pm after everyone left we made 1 last pass up the lobster pots when the short right rigger started screaming it unloaded and ENTIRE 50TW in about 1 minute then started grey hounding running parallel to the boat before breaking the leader (200lb mono) from the snap swivel. I am no marlin expert by any means whatsoever but by judging from the Mack truck holes it was leaving in the Ocean I would think it was somewhere in the 500+lb range. Even after it broke the line and went under about 1 minute later it came up and leaped about 6-8 more times. Hit a green machine daisy chain, good luck to you WMO open guys this week.
