Great report and super pics. Now I bet your son learned more that day then he will in the first week of school! Ya gotta love it when there are kids onboard and they are engaged in the action.

    what a trip

Dave thanks again for the great trip. This, so far, is a fish of a lifetime for me. What a work out too. Tyler (a/k/a "The Magnet") is an impressive little guy. He was really getting the hang of piloting the boat in the open water...no easy feat without an visual point of reference. He was also really in the action when it came time to landing the fish. (He's really getting an eye for the lady's too..check this week's coastal fisherman cover covering the Poor Girl's.)

This was a persistent fish, very attracted to the prop. Towards the end of the fight I got more and more nervous fearing something drastic was going to occur. Once this sucker came up and I saw how big it was I did have a bit of an OO--$hit moment which shut my brain down as Dave hollered stick'em. I could not believe the size of the fish and I got pretty spooked that I would stick it the belly and knew that was not the thing to do I froze a bit. As soon as the fish turned sides it was STUCK !

Dave sunk a second gaff we got it in the boat and then began the blood bath. My Reebok shirt has permanent blood stains on both sides from all of the blood flying around. There was blood in places on the boat that has probably never seen the light of day.

A big thanks to Ake and the guys who let us clean the boat and the fish pier side.

So this big boy is added to the list along with some others....wow I can't wait to go again, what a trip!!!

The comfort inn suite was a nice clean place to stay and Harborside was awesome as usual.

And as usual the boat rode and fished like a dream !!

I believe it was about 57 inches...the tag data is somewhere on the boat
Thanks for all of the replies...I'll admit to dumb luck finding a bluefin off of OC this week! One thing is for sure, it's great having Tyler out there fishing with us...he's going on 12 years old and I've already lost count of the number of times that he's been offshore. I like to have fun when I fish...I don't take myself to seriously...and we had a lot of fun on Tuesday! I'm not sure who actually won that fight though...the fish hasn't said a word...but Steve's sore!
