Well we went a frustrating 1 for 7 on whites on fri fishing in a small fleet on the 830.

The original plan was to fish the E wall of the Washington since the Roffer shot showed an edge of bluewater along the wall starting around 800. As we come to the line of lobster balls we see a small group of boats are shut down and trolling. I figure they are working the balls for mahis, but as we approach we see the motherload of birds pickin hard. So three miles short of the Tip we put them out in green, 80* water and turn on the birds.

After just a few minutes we hook a real nice bull that we loose due to a malfunction (driver error) after the pass down from the tower. 2 turns back on the spot and we have a knock down on the left long (Squidnation mini chugger/bally)
Mike drops back , comes tight, fish on 4 or 5 jumps a good run and the hook pulls. 0-1 . I make 2 more turns on the #s and here he comes again on the right long, takes a swipe and switches to the middle dink, I come tight from the tower, get about 3 jumps and a run...... pull the hook, Damn!

0-2 but we have raised 2 in the 1st 1/2 hour so we couldn't complain. After that it slows a bit but we are hearing of a pick here and their from the fleet which is growing and moving a little East of the balls.I here Bill say he's released 2 about the time I notice him off my port, now I see Mac Attack backing down on a fish and a gazzilion birds going crazy,I make a turn away from Mac Attack and into the birds and allert the guys in the pit"get ready cause he's right here" followed by "There he is right short" (Horse/Chaos Chugger combo) but he faded, Mike dumps the flatline dink , comes tight ,Sancocho! Oh my !

Now the fleet is getting tighter as swarms of birds are showing off fish. Guys are hollering about getting cut off and I know damned well we are going to get another bite soon.
"There he is, Left Long!" Mike drops back, nuthindoin, I dump the dink from my spinner on the tower, come tight,"Thats what I'm talkin about"! The fish jumps 3 times and I'm thinking small blue but keep it to myself.

The boys (including my 81 year old Dad) in the pit are clearing the lines and dredge,I say "Adam you take this" he says" No man you come down and fight him"
(I don't like fighting fish someone else hooked either)

So I hand down the spinner(loosing spectra fast) and come down from the tower and go to work. After we back down the leader comes up and we think we are done, but boss whitey decides to do a BFT imitation and goes down and dirty.Where he stays for a solid 1/2 hour, but I aint chancing tightening the drag, so we do a patient give and take verticle battle.

The leader comes out 3 more times before we finally get him in the boat. Guys all I can say is this the fish every one in the WMO is looking for, when Mike E-mails the picks I'll post and let you be the judge, but in over 30 years of offshore fishing, well that's all I'll say.

We jumped 1 more shortly after that realease and had 3 more sniffers later, and finished the day bailing dolphin off of a lone white bucket we found on the way home coming across the 30f lumps (the water and life looked awesome there).

What a day!sorry about the long winded report.
