Out here, we have guys like Jimmy Kingsmill (Chaser) who need loud clickers on their troll rods because they never look back at the spread. They're looking forward in the gyros 99% of the time. The highest percentage hook-up is on the bait and that is preferably executed from the bow. Then it's drop backs. Then the jigs. As it's mostly a release tournament, the quickest way to chase and release a fish is from the bow. A boat not set up for this (rail & bow pulpit with toe rail) is at a disadvantage out here on the stripes. It's rare to find a chair in the cockpit out here. Think of stripes like fighting open/deep water tarpon that rarely sound.
