John, the biggest tournament certainly on the east coast and you are reporting it. No discredit to anyone intended but how does a potential money fish disappear from the standings with ice inside the fish, with no comment besides the crew was stand up guys?

Im not sure how my statement could be taken any other way then it was. I made the statement and told many people here on the docs before I posted it. My statement on it was written before someone asked about it.

So it did not just disappear it was removed and I posted why it was removed. If you want to think other wise you can that is your right but this is in my eyes very sad, but also super cool that they pulled the fish instead of having to listen to controversy over how much a piece of ice weighed.

In my eyes that is stand up.

I was not there, do not know what happened, but i do know this....

Almost every fish i put in a bag or in a kill box ends up with ice in it. If you ever watch the scales you see ice and fluids come out of a fish.

I suspect this crew properly iced their fish to help it preserve weight, and for whatever reason this clump of ice did not fall out or melt and drain out. Rather than leaving the possibility of controversy and BS, the crew chose to nip it in the bud- not an easy decision with huge dollars on the line I am sure, but nontheless a commendable one. it saved alot of grief for everyone involved.

Admin, Jer, Mary, Bill, SFC, MA500 staff, Sunset and Canyon Club, thanks for great coverage and another incredible 2009 tournament.

Congrats to all of the winners.

Admin I have been on this site by another name for many years now and for a Captain,Angler & Crew to pull a fish for this reason gives us all an example of the ULTIMATE Sportsmanship! This group of guys could of said hey "we caught it,brought it to the scales and you weighed it! Your weigh master is an idiot WE WANT OUR CHECK!" They however took the high road unlike some may have and for someone to suggest they didn't fight about it therefore they were cheating!!?? Somebody would be served there ass if it was me that did the right thing!

Well I am here and I have been around all these events for 5 years and have no reason to lie to anyone. I watched and heard it all and flat out have a ton of respect for the crew.

If you want to question it and cause drama that is not needed please take it else where.

We work hard to bring good tournament coverage to the public and don't need to deal with bs.

Sorry if you think im a jerk.

I have had a blast everyone as always and hope you enjoyed the coverage.

Cape May scale is closed and all boats are in.

For the first time in 5 years im going to the tent to have fun..

    Boy she looks good

    Thanks for the coverage!

I was here at the terminal everyday @ 5 to watch the boats come to the scales. Yesterday was a GREAT day for the suspense and changes that were made to the standings. Thanks to all of SF staff and helpers. Just wish you could have got a closer pic of that blonde at OC taking pics NICE truck!!!

Stopped down to see John last night. First the truck looks great, much better in person. I would also like to thank John for taking the time to talk to me and my family when you were so busy. Thank you for the coverage and all the time you and your staff put into these events.
