2009 Bisbee's Black & Blue Marlin Jackpot Tournament - Photos & Updates

The Bottom Line lost a blue marlin this morning after a brief fight. The fish was hooked at 10:59 and came un-buttoned at 11:14 a.m.

Spartacus, Team #27 fought an unidentified fish for nearly two hours. Angler Bob Walker finally landed a nice yellowfin tuna at 11:18. Walker and his team are fishing grid G-4, over the Gordo Bank in the Sea of Cortez. This area is notorious for producing big tuna. The target of the Black & Blue is strictly marlin, however.

So far this morning, three blue marlin have been hooked (two releases and one lost), along with 3 striped marlin and 1 sailfish.

Just got the news that Las Mananitas is inbound with a blue marlin aboard. The boat, a 36 Rampage, is expected at the weigh scales at 1 p.m. local time.

Team Miss Behavin', just released a small blue at 11:42.

Angler Andres Toro and his team aboard Las Mananitas just weighed in a non-qualifying blue marlin. The fish was long but very skinny.

"We had to try," said Capt. John Domanic, a local tourney veteran. "It taped out at 100 inches."

The crowd of on-lookers is growing, hoping to catch a glimpse of a potential $1 million-dollar fish. Sponsors have set up booths along the boardwalk surrounding the Marina del Cabo San Lucas in the Plaza Puerto Paraiso.

The scales will remain open until 9 p.m. local time.
