The kick off party was tonight. A nice show of beautiful boats. Fishing is iffy and no one seems to have an answer to where they are. Of course, if they did, they wouldn't say anyway!

Weather is still 3-5 tomorrow but forecast has come full circle on Saturday. Called as bad as 5-7 earlier in the week and is now calling 2-3 which I doubt with the NE wind. We will find out.

Some pics.

Short report. I am beat and have to get to bed so I can get up at 3AM for the final day. MIMI is leading with 10 releases. LOR-I-DI is 2nd with 5 and we are 3rd on the PEZ VELA with 4.

Should be interesting tomorrow. Some pics. One is classic...3 friendly fishermen lettin it fly off the transom. One shirt says...SIZE MATTERS...classic.

I can't make RINGLEADER do anything but I did give them your info Thursday afternoon. Hopefully, they will contact you.

It is over. After a good day on Friday, the sailfishing was better on Saturday. We couldn't reproduce our day on Friday catching only 2 on Saturday. Didn't see a fish until noon and when we did see, we couldn't convert. Caught a 40ish wahoo moving from one spot to the next but something bit its tail off. As we were bringing it to the boat, we saw 2 sailfish following right behind it. We got baits to them and caught them both.

A group of boats found the right spot where MIMI increased their lead catching 12. LOR-I-DI caught 7 and FLORIDIAN who got skunked on Friday, caught 11. These are unofficial numbers but the totals for the winners are MIMI at 22, LOR-I-DI at 12 and FLORIDIAN at 11. Again, I might be off with the numbers but I am sure that is the top 3.

What this has shown is that there is a pretty good fishery for sailfish here in NE Florida. It also shows that some of us N Florida boys have some catching up to do. Congratulations to MIMI for the win.

We tried to show em...but there are some good crews out there. As you already know, it is very difficult for weekend warriors to outfish professional crews. I think we are pretty good, but clearly not in the same league as some of these guys.

RINGLEADER did pretty good I think. I do not know their final numbers but I think they had a good day on Saturday.

Actually, the final scoring is up. Here it is:

Final report.

2007 was considered a great tournament with 103 sailfish released in 2 days.

This years tournament saw 116 released in 2 days.

Did anyone other than us locals know we have sailfish here?

fishing was good for tournament, Sat was the best for the fleet and everyone caught them good. Two good days of sailfishing in North FLA. I had fun fishing that tournament.

I was wondering if you had any more shots like that? That is a good shot of the MIMI. Maybe get you to email some to me? How about the second day?
