1st Posting here......looking for a mate?

Hi all,

It's my first post here........I've been fishing in the Northeast for about 20 years. My dad was a commercial lobsterman so I mated that boat till I was about 17. Been working a desk job for a couple years and I want out. Was wondering if anyone needs a full time mate in the Boston, CT, NY area. Or I am also willing to relocate. I would love to mate and learn the ropes of being a charter captain to eventually get my own boat. Will work hard, and never complain. Also any info you guys are willing to give, I'd love to hear!!

This is the advice I have given to a lot of mates in the past. And that is to be there! In the mornings before the fleet heads out, be there and make it known what you are there for. So often mates oversleep or just don't show for some reason, thats your in! Post up your # at the marinas and be there. When you get the call, be there........ Just being there means a lot, what you know can be worked on. I have told this to about a half a dozen, now top notch mates and thats how they got their start! u will find on this site (among the spattering of posters from around the world) a smaller but growing group of us from "up north", i mean in the boston area and cape cod, all great people full of knowledge and passionate about this sport. then there is thems from NY & NJ, almost all great people except for the yankee/spankee fans, but if they got good fishing info we overlook that liability, and then there is them southern boyz who number many and are active posters (damn, they fish right thru the whole year!), who are the true salts and who you wd want on your team thru any war or battle. i cannot do better than the advice u already received here from others. enjoy!
