19 for 22 on Baby Big Eyes!!!

Fished Saturday 8/30. It was an epic day for sure. Broke the Barnegat inlet at 430am and started just inshore of the fingers. Didn't even make it to the fingers as we had the first fish on before the third line was even out. First fish was a single on a naked bally in the flat line. After we boated this fish what we had on our hands. We all looked at the fish and almost simultaneously we all said Big Eye! We stay right there and worked that area for another half hour. At 6:45 the wolf pack attacked. All 7 rods went off and we boated 6 out of those 7 fish. It was pure mayhem. Granted these fish were not big they still put up a good fight. Most fish were between 20 to 40 pounds. Still fun on light tackle. From then on it was non stop action until we decided to pack it in at 10 oclock. We left them biting as we felt we had enough fish in the box. Now for all the naysayers out there I can tell you that these were definately small Big Eyes and not Bluefin. I think the smaller ones are caught more frequently inshore and are actually mistaken for Bluefin. I will post pictures to quell any doubts.

Good fishing, looking forward to the pictures. I have caught small big eyes mixed in with yft in 30 fathoms before here in NC. They are good and tasty toonas!

Nick most people around here think they are blackfins but hell some can't tell the difference between yft's and black fins either. Saw one 91 lbs caught 5 or so yrs ago like you said most i've seen are smaller though.
