Not bashing...heck, I would have loved to have been there for it!!
We did not only just back down to bait balls we cast both live and dead bait - Ballyhoo and slow trolled and used a number of different techniques when were were backing up and away from the main bit which sometimes resulted in doubles off the front or side of the boat.

We believe It was 83 in one day by one angler Mike the Beak Hurt but I cannot confirm this as he is fishing in Mazatlan and I have not yet spoken to him.

Plenty sporting in my book and I would bet less gut hooking (as a %) than typical atlantic coast j-hook 10 second drop backs.

No fish were gut hooked period ...........................J hooks should be banned and outlawed

Fan-freaking-tastic. Looking forward to this one!!! Someone posted a great quote on SFC, but I don't remember who or when. It might describe the action in the pit "Like a fat man in a moon bounce"

I'll keep an eye out for the vids. Thanks

And, all I can add to this thread is WOW!!! Some friends are down there fishing now. I hope they caught 1 fish LOL

That's good to know Chris, thanks for clarifying. I was simply trying to respond to captain Anthony's speculation that you gut hooked a lot of fish. I agree that circle hooks do a much better job of NOT gut hooking fish and should be used on all catch and release situations.
Ready for the video!

I have been in that kind of deal a few times. The amount of fish you can hook is only limited by how many anglers you have.Every bait you put in the water will be bit.The most we had going at one time was 6,wish we had 10 guys on the boat.GREAT going. To anyone reading this, they should stop what they are doing and figure out a way to get to to the Cabo Mag bay area. This is just one of those years.Even the average boat and crew can do 25 to 50 fish a day.Tom
