Didn't Peter Wright and his crew do 71 giants in one day "chunking" shad off Hatteras. I think he generally "trolls" too, but didn't for that record.
I think that this is absolutely incredible fishing. I would love to experience it myself someday and if I can live bait them, the hell with trolling them up! live bait fishing is the most exciting way to fish in my opinion and will outcatch "traditional" trolling most days, most places. I love and respect tradition a great deal, but love to catch and this was some very serious catching.
Congrats to the crew again. Bring on the video!

PS. I'd love to see the Mexican High Seas police preventing folks from backing up to a bait ball!
Anthony is correct about the law in Isla and Cancun that you may not back into bait balls or use spinning tackle to pitch baits into a bait ball. The Mexican authorities can throw a visiting boat out of Mexico if they are caught.

I can't imagine that would be the case with a recreational boat "sport fishing" anywhere Andy. I understand it's an "economic competition" regulation? Regardless what I think Anthony was implying was that the accomplishment of these fellas was somehow diminished because they used bait pitching to bait balls. That's not less sporting. That's a dream come true!

Biscuit,

I think you missed my point....heck, I even said I wish I was there. My point is there is not a lot of skill involved in backing up to a bait ball and pitching live (or even dead bait) into it. Your point of live bait "out catching" trolled bait actually proves my point. Whitey vouched for my other point. And bottom line, a lot of fish get gut hooked or hooked in the gills when pitching into bait balls. How many of those fish swam away unharmed? I hope all of them but I doubt it...and how many were caught multiple times?

That is the case. And we can just agree to disagree on the accomplishment. Great day and huge fun....but it is not the same as trolling them up and some would even go so far as to say it is not sporting.

10/4 captain Anthony. Some say tomato.....
Plenty sporting in my book and I would bet less gut hooking (as a %) than typical atlantic coast j-hook 10 second drop backs.
