Just for the record, since alot do not know him. Dustin from the OVER BOARD is as concerned about the resource as the next guy. I have fished along side of him for a number of years, and have not seen him kill more than he should have, or waste anything he killed.

Knot For Sure, I have never met you, but have enjoyed the debate as well. It is nice to "meet" someone whose convictions/passion for the resource would prevent him from killing a world record fish, and 15 to 1 catch. Both of which are highly regarded in the IGFA record books, and the fishing community at large. Most would not adhere to their convictions in that scenario. Good for you.

I do not think anyone here should take any of this on a personal level. It is purely a spirited debate.

Now, if anyone wants to debate about the number of beers I intend to consume tomorrow evening, that would be a wonderful discussion. I suspect the empty cans would fill a large trash receptacle. The fluid alone will cause extreme over flushing and my water bill will most likely spike to an all time high. Thank goodness I do not have a septic tank, because it would overflow

Franky, I agree totally. None of this should be taken personally. It's good to just be able to throw our respective thoughts and feelings about a certain subject at each other. No one is right or wrong. It's just a matter of choice. And I hope we all continue to have this choice in life.

As far as the beers are concerned, I'll be at the polar bear plunge in rehoboth. Some of my crazy friends are doing it. I'll have a few beers for all of us..............

    Take Care!

Thanks to Board as well. Tight lines.

Congrats to that angler and crew. Had to be one hell of a fight on stand up. This fish probably wouldn't have lived anyway, if it was released. Would it? Think that would be a lot of stress for a fish that size and I am sure it was a long fight, but maybe not

    Thumbs up

As I look at these comments here I can't find anything in the text that would resemble a comment that is negative to our resources.

I have personally known Dustin for many years and shared many charters with him either on his boat or mine. I know first hand that what is brought back to the dock at the end of the doesn't mean crap to Dustin. (as long as the crew is happy). As far as I know Dustin doesn't consume fish and encourages his crew to keep only what they intend to eat. I can recall numerous times on my boat that Dustin has taken the time to educate my clients on conservation and sportfishing in general during the slow times.

As for killing a possible world record or even a personal record fish, who knows what the absolute correct choice should be. Maybe there is not one. I do know that you will never be able to keep everyone happy! But we all should respect one anothers opinions not matter what we think personally. Just remember opinions are like a#@#@@#s; everybody has one but some stink worse than others.

Greay job to the Capt and crew on an outstanding catch!

p.s.s. it's not about the "nose". it's about the age and size that matters here.
Properly icing fish in most areas of the world means keeping it in the shade. I cannot say weather this fish was eatin or not but I would think it was. Uwe may have some more insight on the area. I have learned alot traveling around and watching how folks take care of their catch. I have never gotten ill from eating these fish but I have been weary a few times. Although I will never stop properly icing fish, I have wonder how neccessary it is on a day trip. The long liners and hand liners in brazil will go out for a few days and not have enough ice to satisfy a vodka/tonic. But these are the fish that are sold at markets and eatin every day.

It's funny that picture looks like someone took that rod fishing club sign, stood in front of the IGFA Hall of fame in Dania FL and took the picture there. I have a similar one with my children standing with the fish.

Dustin, some day I hope to get close enough to put steel into one that size. I will take a pile of pictures and even pass out some free disposable cameras to the crowd.
