Had my old man and my uncle aboard who both never caught a keeper striper so we were hoping to get into some fish for em.
Went to the rips first thing and found less than ideal conditions but fished it anyway for about 2 hours and nothing. We were using eels and spot with no luck so we decided to move up the bay and set up for some chunkin.Set up about 1nm east of C&B in about 34-38 feet of water.
Got set up and lines in and about an hour later first runn off tried to set the hook and it pulled right out of his mouth. We were hoping that wasnt the only bite of the day.About and hour later it was non stop until the tide swung to the outgoing.
Our first one took a chunk and fought nicely got him in the box he was 38"er.About 15min after that another run I set the hook and hand the rod to my uncle fought it for about 2min and snap broke off,we thought it had hit the prop but we found out later it didnt .Next up was my dad and not more than 10min after that he set the hook and 5min later we boated my dads first keeper a 40"er!!At this time my uncle was feeling pissed that his only chance at one got off.No matter than 5min after that another one this time a 30" blue,so we got him in and I was taking out the hook and I noticed that it had a 10/0 Gami hook in its mouth just like the one we broke off earlier!!Now he didnt feel as bad knowing that it wasnt a bass that we missed!
We went over to Hinches and Mary & Chuck took some pics for the old mans first.Thanx again for the pics.Still need to get my uncle his first and the season aint over yet !
