10th Annual Mako Rodeo Charity Tournament - The Brett T. Bailey Foundation

Entering its TENTH Year, the Brett T. Bailey Foundation will once again host the Annual Mako Rodeo on Friday June 17th and Saturday June 18th (details below). The Brett T. Bailey Foundation will be working with local charities including the NJ National Guard Family Assistance Program. The Foundation remains the top contributor to the families of those serving in the NJ National Guard. With your support, the Foundation raised over $20,000 again last year for the State of New Jersey National Guard and Reservists, to financially assist those active individuals and families in need, who have decided to make the ultimate sacrifice, to serve in Iraq, Afghanistan and around the world. After extensive research and discussion among our board, the Foundation also recently made a $5,000 donation to Doctors Without Borders, for their ongoing and commendable efforts not only in Haiti, but around the world. We could not be happier to continue these efforts for the many worthy causes we have identified over the years.

    Tournament History
    http://www.btbmakorodeo.com/tournament-history.html

The 9th ANNUAL BTB MAKO RODEO was held in Brielle, NJ on June 18th and 19th and for the ninth consecutive year, the Brett T. Bailey Foundation raised money for various local charities through fundraising efforts associated with this tournament. The weather was perfect and we had a record turnout of 46 boats participating. The fishing was exceptional once again as several bug fish were brought to the scales. Three threshers were weighed and the Thresher Calcutta totaling $7,800 was taken home by George Palczak and his crew on the 'Blue Devil.' They weighed a 334 Thresher to win first overall in this category. There were eight makos brought to the scales with the largest caught by tournament winner Dave Schunke and his team on the 'Insufficient Funds II.' They weighted a monster 385lb Mako that missed the tournament record by only 18 lbs. The fish was brought into the scales at 6:40 with 20 minutes to spare and knocked out the 239 Mako that sat atop the leader board for much of the afternoon and was caught by Darren Volker and the crew of the 'Mary Lou.'

The Foundation would like to thank Scott Wigert of the Brielle Yacht Club, Michael Simko of Simko's Restaurant for their efforts, hospitality and support as well as FSI Webs, JD Design, Promo Focus and all the people that participated in this weekend's festivities. The money raised will hopefully make a difference in the lives of some of the many individuals serving our Country.
