10/8 washington overnighter sorta

My stepdad wanted to try to get a sword fish so I looked at the weather kind of looked iffy but he said he wanted to try it so we did. Left OC at 5:30pm got out there at 7:30 nice ride out little bumpy but not bad. Well it didn't take long for it to get rough. Stepdad was feeling like shit so at 11 we bagged it and went home. This is the second chunking trip he went on and both time has got sea sick. Seas kept building took 2 waves over the side while on the drift. Ride in sucked bad last time I go on iffy weather. Well we didn't get skunked so I guess that was good. caught 6 dolphin in 3 hours of fishing 2 decent ones the others were small. Just glad to make it back safe. Man was I happy when we hit the dock.

Glad you made it back safe too John. Dark, rough and wet sounds like a bad deal. That sword will wait.

I'm glad you said "last time I go when its iffy." At least you weren't one of those who said, lets hang in a little longer and see if it lays out.

tried drifting,. it was way too rough for our ride - maybe if we had a fancy rig like yours we would have been better off

1 40# wahoo and some chickens b4 dark trolling, released a 7' Shark just after anchoring, 1 probable sword bite balled a big squid at night. Line headed straight to the bow all night sucked, just too tough to fish more than a couple lines. Around 430 am had squid all around the boat jigged up 7, put 3 out, had one really nice bite, went straight to anchor line, got it unwrapped and fought for 1/2 hour - either nice sword or tuna doing large circles straight up and down b4 pulling hook.

Anchor snagged an old pot or something, could not pull it with the ball, had to cut it - lost a lot of morning time messing with that. Bailed some dolphin around the balls then caught 2 really nice Wahoo on the troll in 220' inside the tip b4 heading in at 1230
