Get a Stella and like he said, run them down with the boat and I think you can land them on spinning gear

there were several larger 300 pound bluefin caught on spinning gear this year. Two of which Dom landed. Spinning gear has evolved now that stella in the picture has 55 pounds of drag on it couple that with heavy braid and leader with a strong rod and you are good to go
One of the 300 pounders was caught on a stella 6000 with an 8000 spool, besides these fish dont react to a mouth full of trebel hooks like a chunked fish does

Sit down Shut up And fish
Awesome picks!!! Congrats on putting those guys on some fish. Dom I totally understand how yyou feel when you said you don't even know what you'd do if you hooked one of those big 1000+lb fish. We were of OCMD this spring and had a boat near the one we were on come in with one about 800lbs and he sent us to hsi spot off the fleets and sure enough there were HUGE marks, we called them VW bugs each time we went over them, after 3 passes we had a 30W take off and 45min later pulled the hook and dropped the fish...fought it with 28lbs of drag on stand up, went through 4 guys backing down. We did see it once...fish was easily 800+lbs, but did not hit the deck. I agree the fish looked freaky in the water, something that size just doesnt seem real. I'm not sure what you'd do if you hooked one on spinning tackle, but I'd sure love to see that...or better yet be the one on that rod!!! Hopefully you get to experience that one day out there.
