    1/23 Miami Swords

Headed to miami wednesday morning and met up with Justin on Liquid Gold at 3pm.

We left the dock, caught some live bait and pointed the boat for the sword grounds.

before we got there we ran into our own blue planet episode. thousands of blackfins were crashing tiny baits on the surface causing the water to do this:

There was a whale shark keeping the blackfins company.

We grabbed a pair of tld 25s and tossed out a couple of tuna lures. after about 15 minutes we had 7 blackfin tuna and a skipjack, so we continued on to look for swords.

throughout the night we had two bites and came tight on both. the first fish hit a dead squid about 130 feet down and measured 54 inches. here's doug with the skinny sword:

The next was an 58 inch sword that hit a dead bluerunner down 200 feet. This one came to the boat without much fight.

yeah, the boiling water was neat. I think Justin has some pictures of the whale shark, maybe he'll post them up when he sees this.
