Well hells bells... I really must have been busy. Didn't run my reports over here like usual...
Wasn't a heck of a lot to the summer fishery for us...
It started with the Brett Bailey tourney. Butt deep in blue sharks and missed a possible player mako but otherwise a dud.
Ice cold water for the Mako mania also had us scrambling. Again the blue dogs were fierce but we did manage at least one mako for the table... The blue dogs so bad that they actually attacked one another in frenzy form when one got hooked.
Fluking and bass in the rivers was good. but nothing to write home about...
Our third shark tourney was a little better. The Bahrs Open sported some very very tight competition. Ounces seperating places. We came away with second place mako and third over all..
After that there was a lot of upgrading of boat stuff. Lousy conditions and slow fishing kept us at the dock a lot. Eventually though it came time for the OCWMO. Hero or zero game plan was put into play... The boat had lots of issues during the event but we had a good time bouncing off a blue and stacking up a few whites...
We skipped the Mid Atlantic opting instead to chase dirty running engine issues... The Hudson, which was the only canyon we could reach was basically dead. Horrid weather kept us at dock for weeks on end... We managed to get out for some Glory Hole trolling. Fair pick on falsies, dolphin and our target... Bluefin tuna.
That was it... Not much cooking... Worst weather and bite conditions on the north end of Jersey I ever saw this year... Maybe next...![]()
