Almost forgot todays report. Got an early start but the fish didn't want to start playing til late in the morning. She was a bit sporty with the easterly but eventually the dolphin started to pick. Again a couple gaffin sized mixed in with the pee wees. Today was all about naked swimmers. The colored baits did nothing and the day savers didn't save diddly. That could be because I was out deeper than they usually work.
I guess we wound up with seven green yommies. Heard a blue one caught to my south but too far to run to. On the way home I started throwing a ton of spray off my starboard side and I saw that three feet of my lifting rail had become unglued. That required a quick cut and ahgain we were on our way. She now matches the port side shortened in a rough storm last year and the boat seemed to pick up perhaps a half knot over the full length I had on her before... Who Knows?
Anyway it was bluebird but bumpy...

Welllll... Todays whole+ sword turned into just a half as the wind just wont let up.
We played shallow but the water just didn't look good so we slid off to the deep and the 3-5 slop went to work on some truly great people. We dragged and dragged and not much wanted to play. We found an area in 525' holding some mahi but bacon strip class at best. We had a mystery bite on the long bait that dumped almost half of the 50w but it came unglued so I can't even guess what it may have been.
A skip jack of some size gave our lone lady a good go on the day saver and 15lb rig we run them on. Shortly after releasing that she couldn't fight it off any longer and started "laughing at the fish" . A second gust fell prey to the slop and the big "w" was dialed in on the compass. Not another bite all the way to the inlet.
Blew a trim tab line running home so that was a pain on top of a pretty slow day. I always feel bad when people get sick but its out of my control. Lots to do before Bimini and now I gotta fix the tabs... May be doing an emergency run to Nassau to bring a boat back stateside on Sunday... I'll keep everyone posted....
With that March Mashathon is closed out of '06... Pretty good month over all and hope to see more SFC people with me next March...
