I think Admin is going to let me have this space
We woke to a south wind. By the time we reached the bait patch it was cookin hard from the south southwest. Not a favorable condition for offshore. So I stayed on the bait patch and we beat on yellow tails. We fired out some live bally hoos and had several big mutton snapper bites but our 12lb sailfish gear was woefully short on stopping them from making the rocks. Of five hooked we only got one six pounder to the boat. The crew was looking green so we called it quiys early. A couple of us will regroup and try another run to the blue in a while....

We had the cahones to go try it again. Arriving out past the whistle buoy we were hoping to pull on something . Twenty five knots of southwesterly though had the water looking like cloudy green milk. I slid all the way to 300 looking for blue. It wasn't there slid north and although better still not really fishable. Gave it an hour or so there and waived the white flag.Score zip zilch zero nada except a wet arse... Tonite a final shot at tarpon and sharks off the dock.
One more shot early tomorrow (I think), dump this rental piece of crap off, then race back to Palm Beach... Possible that we may dump the rental tonight and get a half day in Palm Tomorrow but thats hoping for a lot since I haven't run her since the repower...

Late decision to abort morning run here and try for Palm Beach PM shot tomorrow. We just caught a moray and nurse shark off the dock so that will close out our Christmas Keys run for this year... Still a couple December days left though to see if I can pull a few more sails.

Bluebird gorgeous was the day... A zillion yahoos out there though. Got an early start with my dock buddy Dave and started the troll of death. In order to get away from the crowds I let her slide to the north. 180" of water I found a group of dolphin willing to play but only got one of the three to the boat. Before I knew it I was all the way up to the loran tower by Hobe Sound and I started to hammer the area. About 10:30 we raised a double of sails missing one and drilling the other on the bird swimming hoo combo. We missed a toothy bite that could have been a wahoo and found a single sail a couple miles before getting back to Jupiter. So two ends the year.
Had a shaft leak when we got in but some adjusting got that stopped so were good to go in the morning. Tomorrows trip and the next few will have my old buddy Curt who owns the other Albie I run, Reel Delight.
Happy New year to all!
