I would say you have to be in the right location to consistently use the speed to your advantage on a cc. There aren't a lot of days in NC where that's going to be a factor. If you want to be first to the grounds just wake up a little earlier . I'm happy with 22kts and a bridge.

Amen brother. Better yet, just do an overnighter!

Damn though if those things don't look good cruising up to the local watering hole!

IMO the practical limit for a cc has always been an Ocean Master 31.
My practical limit is my paid for Mako 22. maybe bigger some day but my limit is 28'. The rest are neat to speculate about and listen to and watch the owners of those extra large ccs with 3 or 4 engines talk about, brag and challenge each other but i don't get it. Even if I did have the $$$

Speed is nice but my buddy with a 31 fishing CC was at the dock many days when I was out fishing in a 29 express. He is fishing a couple hours longer than me but I can fish many more days. I fish 99% weekends so I would fish a lot less if I had to wait for the weather. That being said, another 150hp would be nice so I could run in the 30s on nice days!

You fishing a 29 Combi? Classic boat with a big boat ride and room to roam.......love em.

I had a Luhrs 29 T that some folks have repowered per this thread. Loved the boat but boy was it underpowered.
I recently sold it to an operation in Belize. Sure they will strip, repower and "shoot" to the killing grounds 10 miles offshore.

If I kept that boat, I was thinking pull the engines and drop a nice 6 man Hot tub in her and just leave her at the dock......worst ways to spend a day on the water.

One thing is a fact...older I get the slower I ride. My days of bone jaring ocean speed are done...I'm a "Built for comfort" man now, only proublem is I've grown older but not grown up...

    CC

CC's are fun when the weather is right ,but it sucks when you have no place to go and hide on the ride out or ride home, I owned a Regulator for awhile and it was awesome on a mill pond day but when it kicked up and got a little sporty I hated that SOB. If I lived in the Islands or South FL., I would own another one but in the MID-ATLANTIC, I don't care who builds it or how many motors are hangin off the back of it ,you are in for an ASS KICKIN period, I have left on a good forecast and mid-day it blows up and hang onto your ASS boys and girls it's like riding a surfboard home, I guess I'm gettin old but I don't care if there 40' w/3 600hp, I won't be on one again 60 miles off O.C. again, I guess I'm gettin to old for all that fun
