Just a shot in the dark...cause i probably am clueless
.Pic #1 chafe marks and memory in the line from where it was attached to the release on the plainer.

Pic#2...aside from the obvious scales stuck on there...i would say its a sharp hook to gather them scales like that.

    well...

picture number one looks like it might be a slipped crimp.. dont know if thats it but it looks like that or maybe it was the leader that was crimped to your windon/topshot..

the second pic looks like something came up and ripped the ballyhoo off the hook backwards and left some scales behind

man o man.. i am like a kid in a candy store waiting to hear about this one!!

not quite sure what to make of the first... kinda looks like hybrid line {like yozuri) that the outer coating is separating from the core??? have to say on this I've not seen before so clueless I am.

    now on the second...

stitched belly...so not from the bait riggin.... but box would never deploy a hook with a scale on it anyway.... so I would have to say you where harpooning pogies dragging thru the haystacks on the east side.

The first pic looks like a fiber optic fusion splice - but don't think that's it

#2 - you should clean your hooks before you sharpen them

I would have to take a stab in the dark and say the first picture is where the line is chaffed or crimped or a joint made bad at processing.

As for the second, it looks like a scale but the backing looks more like the fiberglass of the boat. So maybe a scale stuck to the side of the boat or the coating coming off.

Of course WHO KNOWS!! (except box)

#1 The main line got caught in between the rollers in the guides.

#2 You were trolling through the bait so thick, you scraped scales of the pogies.

Need new mainline Looks like a failure of a serve Looks stretched by being cloudy The hook was not sharpened or marked as such by a marker Someone didn't clear the point of scales and you missed a hook up???

MANY OF YOU GOT THE DRIFT OF THIS CLUELESS EPIC.....

THE 200# MAINLINE IS FRACTURED IN TWO PLACES 3/8" APART......THE VISIBLE MEMORY "BEND IS FROM UNDUE STRESS OF HAVING TWO #64 HEAT RESISTANT RUBBERBANDS ATTACHED TO IT GOING TO THE PLANER RELEASE SYSTEM ....PLUS THE DRAG OF A BIGGER BAIT PULLED WAY BACK BEHIND THE #32 OLD SALTY PLANER.....

GOOD EYE CAPT TENNANT....ON SPOTTING THE STITCHED BELLY

    NOW THE HOOK THING.....

THOSE ARE MENHAYDEN SCALES ON THAT HOOK.......OUR HOOKS STAYED COVERED UP IN THEM AS WE SWAM OUR BAITS THROUGH HAYSTACKS OF BAIT!

    AND ONE OTHER THING....

MY FRIGGIN HOOKS ARE BLISTER SHARP!!! THEY BUMP INTO A MENHAYDEN AS WE TROLL AND BANG!! THE SCALES INSTANTLY ADHERE TO MY HAIRPOINT HOOKS

THE BAIT IS VERY THICK ON THE EAST SIDE.....AND I HOPE THE TUNAS ARE COMING SOON! EIGHT DAYS WITHOUT A LEGIT STRIKE IS ENOUGH FOR ME AND MIKE.....
