XM Weather Question?
Just installed a Garmin 4212 on my boat. I was wondering if anyone was familar with the XM Weather and Sea Surface Temps that you can subscribe to. Is it worth having?

Crab mustard is good
I have a Navnet and Sirius weather, but I think they would be fairly similar in function.
The Sirius weather has been great. The sea surface temps aren't super detailed, but they are accurate and it gives you a general idea where the water is. I have been very happy with the other features, mainly the radar loop that shows up to the minute weather, which is really key if some weather pops up while you are offshore.
Welcome to SFC by the way.

Stop staring at my Avatar.
I run the Garmin 5212, GSD 22, GMR41, 3206, and 30A. I have used XM weather for 3 + years now on my ride. I also worked directly with the programmers of XM Weather last year to help better their new fishbytes technology that is getting better every day.
The SSTs that you are use to seeing at Hitlon's, Terrafin, Rutger's and other places are not quite the same as the SSTs u will see with XM Weather, so if you are looking to PINPOINT an area XM Weather is not there "yet" but hopefully soon. I still use those other SSTs
XM Weather is hands down a must have as far as I am concerned. There are so many more features available with XM Weather other than SST, investigate, LEARN the product and if you need assistance with your Garmin please give me a shout, I am very familar with the unit and have spent many hours learning my unit. That in itself is the key, do not expect the units to go catch the fish, if u learn how to use all the technology you have at your finger tips you will be amazed. Once you get use to your sounder take it out of AUTO and learn to make adjustments. I spent time talking with the Garmin rep and found out I just needed to LEARN what I had. I have been helping alot of people lately with 4212 and 5212s and I enjoy passing along the knowledge. I work with computers every day of my life and hate them but have a passion for marine electronics so please feel free to email me or call me.
