    XM Weather and Fishbytes

Has anyone heard of fishbytes? Well here is the deal, if you have the Master package on XM Weather you get real time updated fishing information about SPECIFIC fish, just like you would from other services that you have to get emailed and faxed. I would rather not use names because they are great tools and I am not here to put any of them down. Well I subscribed to the XM Weather Master and started looking at the information, this is a new tool and was developed in April 2007 using the same tools and info the other services use except they are sending it out live while you are fishing. Well I called the actual company that does the service for XM and they asked me for some input because I questioned their they graphics on a cpl of species. and asked if I would help give them some more info. This is a really cool service and they are wanting to make it better by getting migration habits, areas and more from us doing the fishing. I think it is a great idea and tool and have been helping them as much as I can but since most of you are much more experienced than I am I thought I would ask if any of you would be interested in answering some question for me. Of course BOX I will be calling you. They have been real successful in with the billfish this year in several tournaments. Now they want to better the graphics on other species.

The way it works is on your GPS system while you are looking at the chart view it will have a colored area for the best chance to catch a particular species identified by a different color. Just thought I would share some new technology with you all.

What type of plotter do you have? I am this (invisible ) close to buying a Garmin 3206. I have heard the service is not that great, but how will it get better if nobody helps them out Of course, I have never seen it. I would definitely be willing to help them out once I get the unit installed and spend some time on the water with it.

On a side note, do you know what species are listed. Probably mostly pelagics - tunas, dolphin, etc. Does XM's site have the info?

    Thanks for the infor Capt.
I have had XM Weather now going on 2 years and love it. It has save me a cpl of times and helped me a few too. The SSTs are not true SST but that is sort of what I was saying here is they are looking to improve the Fishbytes to try and make it comparable to the other stuff out there and they are looking for input. I am giving them as much as I can, but I was saying it sure would be nice to have that feature real time. Just a thought.

I have had the 3210, I have a 3206 and I upgraded from the 3210 to the 5212 and I love XM Weather, it is great, the fishbytes is sort of new so they are working to perfect it. Thanks
