    Winter fishing?

Besides the Tuna fishing that tends to get most of the attention during the winter months ..... what else is biting during the winter off the NC coast?

I just recently learned that huge kings can be caught through December and from the look of some of the latest reports, there is obviously some good bottom fishing ... so what else????

Can you still fool a 'hoo or raise a billfish or two if you can find a break in the weather long enough to get to the stream? Winter fishing is new to me but I am getting the itch. I have no issue with the cold so I am curious. What might I run into out there and is it worth the effort?

'Hoos and the occasional mahi are around the Big Rock and the usual spots out of Beaufort Inlet. - you just need to find some decent water. If you can find decent temps in the 50 fathom range, you should be ok

Ken .... I am clueless to the bottom game. Ill have to get you to show me the ropes one of these days.

Box ... that is encouraging info. Damn thats a big King on the Run-Off!!! Did they catch him tuna fishing???

I guess the weather is the real trick with regards to winter fishing eh?
