This was a great thread. Big "M", Bite Me brought his DFA on his trip on the "Predator" the other day, (must have been 2 of 3 weeks ago now) and finely got it back today. Mate Warren LOVES it and it works GREAT for the Tunas when they are holding at the 150 to 200' depth. Had a planer eaten the second day we used it. Was screaming off drag when the Spectra parted. I think a big shark ate it. Line was all frayed and looked like it was used as floss. Had to make a new bridle for it... made it a little long but it still worked fine. Is very easy to trip and get it in when we get a bite on one of the top lines. We wont leave home with out it! Oh ya, the Penn 80w does not have the guts to hold the planer with out playing with the drag all the time. Thanks for the great Tip and to "Bite Me" for opening Warren's eyes to something new. Lucian,
This winter in Southport I heard a NE commercial guy that just flosses loops and he said it works perfect for yellow bellies--- haven't tried it though and don't plan on it till I hear or learn more about it.
Nothing all that wrong with a bridle a bit too long-- I have found it allows for trimming that way instead of making up a new one each day, ie, better a bit too long than short. Either way, don't leave home without at least a couple pre-made bridles cause shit happens.
