I was thinking more about how the Info that Marty is sharing up in Cape May will change things in the North over the next few years.
That got me to thinking about the past. I wonder who rigged the first Bally? And how was that info passed along?

im thinking some idigenous people of a foreign country that used them for bait for food. hellifiknow..just a guess..
I'm pretty sure that the split tail mullet came around in the 30's from miami. Not sure when the hoo came into play...
Heres my scenario!.... I'm thinkin back around Hemmingways time mullets were th bait of choice and it had to be a mate ... like a seminole ,that had this secret weapon.. While fishing in his dugout he caught one of these things called a bellywhoomin and as he was hand lineing it it in, he watched as the water became dark with a monstrous fish.... It swam up to this bellywhoomin and he thought geez, if I can just get that thing to catch one of those sea monsters ,It will be my own little secret weapon........ Well every body knows smeinoles can't keep a secret....... Yep. I'm purty sure thats it....... I'm positive it wern't no yankee!![]()
I'm sure it was some yankee high hook on Cape Cod MA!....![]()
I know the Hawaiian's use to fish them live off the beach at Southpoint on the Big Island a long long time ago Ray one of the elders at Milollia was telling me about how they use to fish them off the lava cliffs as kids and he is probably 80 years old Wahoo was the target!!!PEACE
I have no doubt they have been used live for a long time. What I was wondering is who was the first to stick a hook in a dead one, and make it swim harder than a live bait.
By the way, I wish we had wahoo's on the beach![]()
