One reason we don't get as many or hear about many being hooked is due to lack of higher water temps and clarity. Last year, I did strictly a marlin trip trolling from Atlantis to the Middle grounds. We had to get out in the deep water 500-1000 fathoms, to get the 72+ degree water... and this was in late August. We were targeting blue marlin, but did hook up and release a dirty white boy.

Another key is that you must TARGET them in order to catch them on a regular basis. If you really want to get one BAD..... leave the tuna alone for a trip and target the white boys or marlin in general....however, you won't get many boats out of southern New England to take that chance.
