Ok...after attending Shawn's "Fishing for Dummies" seminar's, I was itching to get down to the lake and put my newfound knowledge to work. Unfortunately, I had not coordinated the trip with Mother Nature and she blew her top…literally! Never a good sign when the weather report calls for a WIND ADVISORY…but, we decided to give it a shot. Jody was at the house by 0430, and we loaded up and headed down to the lake. We go to the lake and were greeted by 35mph gust from the S/SE. We had the boat launched a little before 0600 and headed out in search of bait. We motored around for about a hour looking for Shad, and after about 10 throws, we had the bait tank full of Shad and headed to our 1st spot. Of course, the ONLY other boat on the lake was sitting in the spot I wanted, so, we motored past him and set up on the canal close to the shore protected from the wind. Live lining Shad was marginally successful with us catching a few 10”-14” Large Mouth bass, and only one nice Sand Bass. After a couple hours we decided to move around and try some bottom fishing…again, all the “prime” spots were exposed to the elements and I had a very hard time staying on anchor. We did manage a few more Sand Bass, but, the conditions were less than optimal. Finally decided to head into a sheltered cove and see if we could catch some Catfish…managed to catch a couple Channel cat’s before packing it up and calling it a day. We did not have the same results as before Chilly day at school... but, I’ll take a rough day fishing over a good day at work any day!
Sorry, only one picture today, we spent too much time holding on to our hat’s, cooler lid’s, and anything else not bolted down to take many pictures.
