    When is it time??

To switch to the small hooks (using matzuo thanks guys )and naked baits here in NC around MHC and WB?
By switching I mean going from 8/0 and 9/0 hooks with hoo's with witches, ilands etc to all naked with the dink hooks? I am planning on doing this later in the early summer and continue to do all summer until late Sept to early Oct. going all naked with maybe one sailure/hoo combo in the spread. The reason for my thinking is to look simple and natural to the fish when they start getting picky and more pressured therefore becoming finicky.

    does it matter?
BTH- We usually start to downsize when we notice a tapering off in the bite from the target. If you catch them strong for a couple weeks then the bite starts to slow, down size. You need to let the fish dictate the time to you. The only time we keep our heavier gear out when it should be small is when the slingers to gaffer mahi are around in case BOSCO decides to eat one of our intended meals. Hope this helps some....Mark

i guess its kinda like when they ducks have been called at, shot at, and everything else by mid january.....its best to leave the calls in your pocket and put out about 3 decoys, if any.

plans tomorrow? hunter is taking 10 freakin people into the guyton pond .....unless something fishing-wise pops up, im going to punks solo to try and kill a stupid blackduck then probably go sit on the macarthur pond for the rest of the day...maybe bust a wigeon or something. or i might just go get hammered tonight and sleep in .

or maybe you just need to hitch her up and tow on down this way.....light to variable tomorrow .

Mid to late May is normally when the Whites and Sails start showning in decent numbers.. These dinks are mainly for Billfish-- Whites, Sails and Rat Blues. As long as you're hunting the Yellowbellies and Wahoo--- keep the big Mustads on.--- generally.

Thanks for the replies guys. I was thinking the same thing on timeframes Glenn and Tuna. More or less it just gives me something to do with rigs and tackle (building dink set-ups)when I get home from work instead of working with the mutt now.
