What's Your Favorite Fish to Catch and How?

I know there is a lot of knowledge available on this board about fishing that needs to be shared. Recently there has been several new members who state that they are rookies. Knowledge is why we are here.

Let's share our knowledge. Tell us what your favorite fish to catch is and give up one tip that has helped you be successful with catching a particular species. Standing by to learn. Thanks

I like slow trolling cigar minnows for kings. Every time you come up on a bait ball put it in neutral for about 15sec to let the baits sink down then start trolling agian.

I would have to say Yellowfin tuna or Blackfin tuna. Heck any fish of the tuna family. Big on the fight and are also very tasty as most on here know.
Tip for tuna, be ready and have your knees braced to coaming/gunnels when sticking one with the gaff. First one I stuck flexed and I was not ready for it, almost took me for a ride over the gunnel and it was only in the 30 lb. range. Strong lil boogers.

A 150lb Bigeye put up a good fight, so that is one. We caught our first marlin this year, 5 White and 2 Blues and those are very exciting. Really any Pelagic.

Swordfish! Hands down one of the most exiting fish, and the hardest fighting fish in the sea.

i'd say football bft i fish for them on 20lb test line on light striper rods hook into one about 25-40 lbs on that tackle is a blast caught 72 this year had 5 on at one time and 8 on another time hook into one and keep on trolling and have people jig other rods if your not doing good stop the boat for a few sec then put it back in gear whe nthe baits come back to the surface you usually get a strike blast when the kings are around and other mac.

My favorite of all time is rig fishing for snapper and grouper... especially when you get a sow on
We used squid because it lasted longer than any other bait and could take the abuse from the nibbles.

There is nothing better than when you get in a good area where every time you drop your line to the bottom you get one on right away!
    no waiting just BAM!!!

Flyin kites for sails! Nothing better than watching a lit-up sail come and eat your goggle eye right on the surface.

Call me spoiled... About five thousand billfish have reached my transom. I love em all but nothing beats a big old blue marlin hammerin something I made being dragged at between six and eight knots... Running a close second would be a big ol drifted up mako... Theres something about catching stuff that can easily hurt me back that brings the charge back into this game for me.
That being said as my favorite does not mean for a second though that I don't get a kick out of a live baited sail or a striper off a bridge or a dock flounder or a trout out of a stream...Hell I have fun just catchin ballyhoos for bait.
