What's the Skinny on the Accurate Twin Spin 30

    Greetings SF
Any one out there use the Twin Spin 30? I'm considering the ACCTSR30 but I'm a bit apprehensive. How well do they work and with the right care, how long might they last? I have a Penn 4/0 that I bought with my own money at the tender age of 12, and it isn't ready to retire yet. I plan on using it for everything you'd use a 50W or less for (especialy the switch for bills) in addition to popper casting for GTs overseas. I could also use some suggestions as to what rod to match it with. This would be a pricy purchase for me so I appreciate any advice given.

when the reel came out i think there were a few little problems as expected with any new reel..they seem to have fixed.. and the reels seem to be getting very good reviews..with proper care most quality products will last a lifetime.....the rod .i am now working on a "spin" rod that is very unique..the accurate rep has used a similiar rod to catch a 350# marlin and a est 150# tuna(lost boatside)..i am waiting for the DVD, he is away till the 4th. there are alot of GREAT blank choices depending on what you are going after....the popping rod maybe a seprate rod because of the "light" tip you need to cast light lures

    Hey Jason,

I am a charter captain and I am associated with Accurate on their pro staff uphere in New England. The reel should last you a life time and they do offer some unique advantages. Send back your reel every year or two for a tune and lube. The service is free and you will be asked to cover shipping which normally runs about 20 bucks.

Any updates to the internals will be auto upgraded for you no charge.

    The drag system is fabulous

I wish I could upgrade all my reels to Accurate but life being what it is we do a couple a year LOL...We run tweleve trolling rods, six jigging rods and on and on.

I think there is currently a back log as they have ben extremely well recieved.

Quality product. US made. Great factory support after the sale is complete. I would venture to say it will not be your last Accurate product.

I hope you have a great season

    Jason,

Go with the Stella or Saltiga, parts and service are alot more freely available, thousands in use with little or no problems.

From a machinist point of view , I got the chance to dis-assemble one of the first ones and they are rock solid engineered and built to survive, no white metal or castings to dissolve under extreme conditions

I own a few of the conventionals and they are worth the money for sure

just wish i had more money

The Accurates are everything that has been said here and more. I don't care what company you might want to compare them too, just the annual free cleaning and check up is worth its weight in gold and is unheard of in the reel manufacturing, or almost any other business. And that is without their policy of upgrading any improved reel components FOR FREE. Try getting some other reel manufacturing company to do THAT for you! Lottsa luck! The closest you'll get to that is some offshore company that comes out with "new" models every year that you sure as hell ain't getting for free.

I did some of the earliest testing of the spinners. We caught two, two hundred and fifty to three hundred pound threshers on them after spooling them up with 80# braid. Drags were set at the requisite 27 pounds and the reels performed beautifully and without a hitch. Then we took those same reels down to Cabo and used them for pitch baiting and casting live baits to striped marlin. Again, simply perfection.

You can go cheaper than Accurate, but you can't go wrong with them!

And remember, they are made right here in the good old USA, a very important consideration when making buying decisions nowadays.

I can't help you with the rod/rods. There have been some suggestions here and I would call Accurate and ask them who is making what that goes great with their reels. Heavy tackle spinning reels are a different sort of animal.

    Go Accurate and good luck!
