Whats the deal with the Yellowfin???

Anybody have an idea as to why the yellows haven't showed yet. Did they already bypass us during the rough weather period a few weeks ago or are they just off to a late start this year and gonna make a strong showing in the next few weeks?

If you can't tell I'm getting pretty F#$*ing impatient!!!

I think we missed them this year Matt.
Last couple of years we found schools of them north of the rock in February. The temp break was 67 to 70. We'll not see that kind of break offshore again until next winter, unfortunately.

The weather and water are definitely strange this year. Last Saturday, I would have sworn we were fishing in early March - the water was green, murky and cold - no signs of life on top.

This past Saturday, it was a different ocean - 74 degrees all over the place and flyers like I haven't seen in a few years - lots of large one and lots of small ones.

We found more peanuts than expected for this time of the year - and some gaffers to boot.

It's a done deal this year.. It's Mahi and Hooo time now. Just hopin for a blue one till the sails show. Hopefully it's as good as last year.

I dont think they passed you yet. Last week a bunch of boats fished the eddy up here off New Jersey and Maryland and not 1 yellowfin was caught. They are either late this year or comming up the other side of the Gulf Stream.
