I'll give you a hint. Everyone is being rather conventional about this. You need to think out of the box (no pun or hidden hint intended).

Bluefin
Longfin
Fat Albert
Mahi
Wahoo
Triggerfish
HOW MANY DO I HAVE RIGHT?
DID YOU BOTTOM FISH OR BAITFISH?
I WOULD HAVE BEEN STUPID ENOUGH TO BREAK OFF THE SMALL ONE IF ANYTHING GOT BROKE OFF INTENTIONALLY
That had to be a tough call for the capt.. But it sounds like he did the right thing. Better getting one to the boat then none.
Blue Marlin
white marlin
yellowfin
Bluefin
skippy
wahoo
dolphin
false albacore
bluefish
I would play out the 300lbder and circle on the larger one (to gain line) depending on the location of both fish. Working each fish to keep the line on. Eventually landing the smallerone first. Keeping in mind that the odds that we would not land the larger fish!
My Guess:
Wahoo
Mahi
Longfin
BFT
YFT
WM
BM
Mako
Cobia
