What makes a good seawitch?
I have been tieing my own for about six months now and have been happy with the results. However, I have just been copying the ones I see in the stores. I know it is the little things that make the big difference so what makes a good seawitch? Lets hear it, how do you tie yours? Box do you have a video on this, if not I think it would be a great addition.

One problem alot of people have is using too much hair..it only takes a little to do its job.
I also cut all the hair on the bottom of the witch..sometimes drill out the bottom of the head so the bill of the bally will ride nicely.

DO NOT STORE THEM IN A PLASTIC BAG!!!!
THEY LOOK LIKE A LIMP ...........WHATEVER
I LIKE THEM WELL BALANCED WITH A SMALL AMOUNT OF HAIR....& NO FREAKING GLUE!!!
DITTON ON WHAT BRANDON SAID!
IF I HAD A SPON$OR TO MAKE A SEA WITCH VIDEO ....NOW THAT WOULD BE NICE!!!

and make them all blue/white and pink/white

What are your thoughts on head weight and style and who makes the best hair? As for the plastic bag, what is wrong if they are laid flat in the bottom of a gallon size zip lock. Lastly what is a good length for a medium bally rigged with an 8/0 hook?

Try custom painting you heads for the witches. A few light coats of color with a toothpick in the hole of the head and a piece of the corrugated cardboard box hold them nicely and then use clear acrylic paint to seal them up. Or try blending glitter in an epoxy glue and putting this over your favorite colors.
IMO a good witch the hair will not pull out, it only has enough hair to accent the bait. The hair length should be no more than 6" long. Try looking a some of the bait the meat fish spit up and then find a hair pattern to match that. You never know what may be the hot bait.

I had some dangling the other day ( wish I had pictures) out of my riggers while we were bottom fishing. I kept looking at them jumping out of the water and thought how often I've had them hit like that. Anyhow they looked like a small lit up marlin. We had three different colors that my mate had tied the night before. But they all had a similar look, supreme, white crystal w/ a tinge of blue and the old standard blue/white. BTW, while looking at them a wahoo came up and bit the supreme off. No trolling bites that day w/ the full moon, but the baits sure did look good!
Some times we put a small squid skirt over the head before tying on the hair. As said before not to much hair and make sure its even around the head. I like to take a lighter and singe the hair on the short side.

Thanks, this is a lot of very useful info! One thing that I read last night while doing a search was that several people like a green head any thoughts on that. Also, any of you pull a NP or green lantern, i I saw a few of those on Anthony's boat but have not tried to tie any.

Have pulled the green lanterns with good success. Going to try some lanterns this fall for the wahoo with all crystal hair and a hot pink squid skirt in them. I also have a couple with all crystal hair with a black/purple squid skirt in them. Both fished on wire.
