What to do When Marlin goes nuts

Please give me captaining advice on the following situation.

Mr Marlin is hooked up and starts running to the front of the boat , As Captain what would you do with the Boat, and second what would you tell your cockpit to do without any experienced mate. Thank you everyone for your time and knowledge

    I'm no pro but...

Me.. I would pour the coal to Her and turn the wheel away from the fish. Keep Him tight and as Boxoid said if He turns and runs, make sure the winder is a windin' and and Your "washin' the deck". At this point as far as Your crew or Mate...I would say the first job would be to clear the lines and the deck and second would be to keep Cappy informed of the fishes wishes and third get a good set of gloves on!
Mr. Marlin is very unpredictable and no two hook-ups have ever been the same or routine for Me.

I am not expert and I have a fish around so we are able to send the angler to the bow to fight the fish if needed.

My preference is to make a turn, get an angle on the fish, tell the angler to stay calm and keep steady pressure on the fish. Meanwhile have your crew CLEAR THE LINES ASAP. I have outboards and am not fond of washing water in my boat.

Mr. Bluesuit is a rocket and sometimes needs to be chased down to get line back on the reel.

Try to get him to the leader asap for a healthy release if possible and be careful if he's greyhounding beside the boat.

Like I said I am no expert, but have had an occasional blue one to the boat for the release.

I am looking forward to reading from the pros.

If he/she is greyhounding to the bow or at this time infront, will you swing the stern and then back down, or swing in the opposite direction keeping it on a corner

With a crew that lacks the experience, simply let the fish go by and swing the stern to him. By not moving the boat much your crew can clear the lines. Let the fish spas out then get your line back.

    No Slack...

I am not sure of Your experience level Hotshot but I have a feeling You can do it! No disrespt intended SaltShaker but I have seen more than a few crazy fish escape when given slack line and time . I wish some Pro's would chime in on this one . I am curious to hear some input. A good tip I was taught was to try to keep a corner aimed at Him for the first 1/2 of the engagement (like that term ?) and the transom to the fish for wiring. Allow the Mate to gain control and have Him walk the fish boatside for a release.

I'm no pro but this is what has worked for me.

We run a 41 express and out first hookup was on a 30 In those few seconds when we realized it wasn't no tuner I did the easiest thing I could. I throttled the port engine hard and turned the boat towards the fish. Once turned and began a run down I kept the line between 2 and 3 o clock to the starboard side. I could maintain the angle for the run down while the crew cleared the other lines which are now just dragging harmlessly behind us out of the way. Be prepared for the noise these little reels make when a blue girl is takin it one way and the boat makes that turn

Once we got stuff under some form of control and 3/4 of the line back I spun the boat and backed down on her..

We had the pleasure of doing it again the next day on a larger one. This is how we did it when we giant fished in Marty's back yard out of CC's. So my thought is it would work with any rig. A lot easier on your gear and crew going with the pointy end first.

    That's just my two cents
