Not relevant to the actual diet but.... I wish I had a pic for evidence. I unzipped the stomach contents of a giant bluefin, (fish was 480lbs dressed) in Cape Cod 7 years ago. I found, someone's elses, sewn up mackeral (hook and all), 4 pieces of chain link, and an empty bag of "NY Style" potato chips!

My best all time to date (no pic, sorry) was a mahi that had two of my menhaden in him, somones else's ballyhoo and witch, 2 flyers and 1 big ass squid. Did I mention that he was a slinger at about 10-12 lbs. You could see the bulge in his stomach when he was still alive.

The next bite on a jig.
Last year I had one that had 5 baby marlins in it. That was pretty wild.

Great thread... Sorry that I havn't taken my camera to the cleaning table over the years cause I have seen some neet stuff in fish. If I did bring it though, chances that it would have been filleted and bagged and cooked.

Among the neat things we see down here especially in mahi are juvenile billfish. There was a run years back where some of the fish had fully formed swordfish like 10-12" long... Scientists from U of Miami came and collected them. On more than one occasion I have had them barf up a gut full of juvenile blue marlin. Never knew if it would be proper to hang like 50 flags though. I have seen quite a few with baby tunas of all species too. The weed line critters always get me grinnin at the diversity that lives in there too.

Plastic bothers me but I find it too. Found a margerine tub in one that hadthe fish emaciated and blocked off. I have found six pack rings, bags, pieces of tarp, pen caps, among other oddities...

Another neet set of guts to go through is a mako. Usually bluefish but often other stuff including tunas frequently. Then you find the one that broke tradition and was bottom feeding with sea bass, flounder and sea robbins. One thing i found in the winner from Mako MAnia a couple years back though that had me take a step back was a surf rig for striped bass! In tact, pretty fresh, weight, three way and float all there. Line cut about a foot above the three way. ... Hmmmmm...
    Again grat topic... Thanks...

Last weekend one of the dolphin we caught had a small tuna of some sort in its gut. The tuna, it appeared to be a small bonita or albacore, was roughly 1/4 the length of the 10-12lb dolphin. Wish I would have thought to take a picture of it now. I couldn't believe the dolphin was even able to get it down.

Note to self: Have camera in pocket at all times for the sake of SFC
